Beamsplitter

A beamsplitter, often called a half-mirror, is an optical window with a semi-transparent coating which divides a beam into two or more separate beams. Beamsplitter coatings are constructed with metal or dielectric layers on one surface to yield specific transmission/reflection characteristics. The second surface is coated with an anti-reflective coating to reduce ghost images.

 

LARGE FORMAT BEAMSPLITTER

We produce and stock large format beamsplitter glass readily available for fabrication. These mirrors are typically used in teleprompters and displays. This beamsplitter coating is constructed of all dielectric layers. The coating is non-absorbing, meaning all light that is not transmitted is reflected. The second surface is coated with a broadband anti-reflective coating to reduce ghost images.


60% Transmission / 40% reflection
Average Reflection% 40%+/-5%, 425nm-700nm
Average Transmission 60%, minus absorption loss
Substrate: Regular Soda-lime Glass or Low Iron Soda-lime Glass
Thickness: Both .090” and .125” available

CUSTOM PRECISION BEAMSPLITTER

Our custom precision beamsplitter coatings can be produced on glass and plastic optics through the use of metal or dielectric coating designs. The coatings can be customized to meet your specific Reflection/Transmission ratio, angle of incidence and wavelength requirements.
