Mirror

Front Surface Mirror (aka 1st surface mirror) – a mirror with the reflective surface on top of the substrate, eliminating light passing between the glass and the reflective surface. Front surface mirrors are made for applications requiring strict reflection without a ghosting effect as seen with a second surface mirror – where a faint secondary reflection could be observed, coming from the front surface of the glass.

Second Surface mirror is the type of mirror most commonly used and seen in every-day architectural, residential and automotive applications. The reflective coating is applied to the back surface, so that it is protected from corrosion and accidental damage. The rear side is also protected by a backing paint to prevent scratching and oxidizing of the fragile reflective surface. These mirrors are tough, robust, and simple to clean.

Features

  • Overcoated with all dielectric layers to enhance reflectivity and protect against heat, humidity and abrasion
  • Approximately 94% reflection, 7 to 9% more reflection than standard 2nd surface mirror
  • Helps create a similar effect as a skylight
  • Can be coated on customer supplied substrates

Features

  • Can be drilled, silk-screened, shaped, sandblasted, edged, etched and beveled
  • Optional Vinyl Safety backing designed to keep mirror intact if broken
